Graves Drive-In

The Graves Drive-In was opened by 1951 and was located north of town. It was still open in 1983, but had been demolished by 1995.

While the theater is long gone, the name lives on thanks to a small restaurant named Graves Drive Inn, which is located in front of where the screen would have been. The ramps still remain and it appears that the concession stand is sitting in the middle of the field.

I couldn’t find either of those on old topographic maps. I’ll look again in case I missed them.

Here is my January 2011 picture of the Graves Drive-in projection booth and snack bar.

I suspect that Perry’s other drive-in was located on the Old Dixie Highway just north of Florida 30, but I have no concrete proof.

Found the other drive-in on US 98 south of Perry, have a 1951 aerial photo of it. I will make a listing and post.

A comparison of the 1951 and 1959 aerial photos show the drive-in expanded noticeably. The screen is considerably larger and the ramps were fanned outward to accommodate more vehicles.

It was still intact and seemingly operational in 1983, but by 1995 had been demolished.

Today, most of the property is overgrown and the projection booth/concession stand is engulfed by trees.
