Virgil Gould and Art Kuhlman launched this 420-car venue on August 25, 1949 with “Homestretch.” It appears to have closed on September 25, 1961 with “The Gazebo.” In 1967, the venue was reportedly removed for a planned motel which does not appear to have been built.
A 1976 aerial shows the drive-in to be demolished. By 2010, all remaining traces of the drive-in were removed.
The Valley Drive-In was the first of the two drive-in’s in Williston. The Lake Park doesn’t show up until 1954.
Open ~1950? I know for sure it was open in 1967. Anyone care to verify the exact dates?
Need more info and photos.
Thanks Andy.
Oilfield Safety, Incorporated occupies a part of the drive-in lot; its address is 2523 2nd Street West. The theater is gone, but it looks like part of the fence remains. The screen was at the corner of Front Street and 26th Avenue.
