Located in the centre of Santiago de Chile, the Cine Santa Lucia is located across the street from the National Library of Chile(Biblioteca Nacional de Chile) at the corner of Avenida Libertador Bernardo O'Higgins and Avenida Santa Rosa. From 23rd March 1961 until 2nd March 1966, it presented 3-strip Cinerama films on a louvered screen 98 feet wide and 36 feet high. From 1st April 1966, it was presenting 70mm films.
The Cine Santa Lucia remained open as a first run cinema for many years, but was overtaken by new multiplexes opening in the city centre. It still retained the ‘Cinerama’ signage on the front of the building when it was demolished. The Hotel Caesar Business was built on the site.
