Core Theatre

Opened in November 2010, the Core Theatre at The Corby Cube is primarily a live theatre on three levels seating 450. The auditorium is largely subterranean, the theatre being entered from the ground floor at the top tier level. It was designed by Hawkins\Brown in conjunction with Charcoal Blue Theatre Consultants. The Cube also contains bars, a cafe, a library and an art gallery. It replaces the former Willows Arts Centre (Civic Theatre) which was also equipped as a cinema.

At the rear of the 1st tier is the control room, which in addition to the normal theatre sound and lighting desks, houses digital cinema equipment. The screen will be flown in the motorised flytower above the stage.

The auditorium is very attractive with retractable raked stalls seating on an innovative curved bleacher system, with fixed seating in the two horseshoe balconies above. The theatre is panelled with dark wood and the balcony fronts and heavy cornice are padded brocade to enhance the acoustics.
