A 1957 aerial shows the drive-in operational. It was still intact and perhaps operational in 1981.
By 1991, the drive-in had been demolished with only the projection booth/concession stand still intact.
By 2002, the projection booth/concession stand was gone. At this point, its use was clearly part of a truck driving school as mentioned in an earlier post.
That use has seemingly ended as the field is now mostly overgrow and the trails created for the truck have disappeared. It is now an empty field with no indication left that it was once a drive-in.
863 South Main Street, Fort Scott, KS is a good alternate address that works on Google Maps. The one with US-69 put the location east of Dallas, Texas for some reason when I entered it.
It should be noted that Hickory Road was the entrance road to the drive-in. At least the first 75 feet of it from US-69.
Today there is nothing left of the drive-in. It seems to be a parking area for a truck driving school.
Boxoffice, July 2, 1955: “Chet Borg’s Mo-Kan Drive-In at Fort Scott, Kas., was "attacled” by Cougar jet planes on a recent Sunday afternoon. The public was invited to attend free and saw Borg “fight back” with a 21-gun aerial salute. The planes “attacked” from a height of 2,000 feet. That night Borg showed “An Annapolis Story” and Navy recruiting circulars were distributed during the day. Borg said when he heard the Navy planes were making a tactical training flight in the vicinity, he booked the picture and made the “attack” arrangement. The planes came from the nearby Olathe, Kas., training base."
Yes, I agree about Google maps. 863 S Main would be somewhere in the vicinity of 9th and Main downtown Fort Scott. Try 863 U.S. 69 Fort Scott, KS. This also points to the same location.
Using 37.784050, -94.703707 and 863 S Main St. in goggle maps it locates to the same location. Sometimes goggle maps can off also.
The address given above is not correct. The drive-in was located about 1 ½ miles south of Fort Scott on 69 Hwy. Copy and paste these coordinates 37.784050, -94.703707 in Google maps and you will see the location. The projector house is still there and the screen sat at a diagonal in the southwest corner of the lot. As far as I know it was always called Mo-Kan Drive-in. The Liberty Theatre downtown used to be known as the FOX Theater and later the FOX Twin Cinema. The old drive-in is now owned by Fort Scott Community College and is used for truck driving school.

Do have a bit more,It parked 300 cars and was owned in 1956 by Chet Borg.
Wish I had more on this Drive-in they had nice ads in the Fort Scott paper,so they advetising money.
