Located in the New Inns area of the Handsworth district of Birmingham, at the corner of Hollyhead Road and Sandwell Road. The Albion Picture Theatre opened on 16th December 1916 with "Salambo". The original seating capacity was for 800, all on a single level. Over the entrance to the cinema was a figurehead statue of Electra.
In the 1940’s the cinema was enlarged to 1,000 seats, on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear. Offices were also built to the left of the entrance.
The Albion Picture Theatre was closed on 24th September 1960 with "James Stewart in "The Mountain Road" and Lisa Lu in "Death of a Princess". It was subsequently demolished and a block of flats with retail units has been built on the site.
