After the war broke out on 8th December,1941,the backstage of the theatre served as a shelter of the Lee family.
Chinese name:利舞台.
Thanks Raymond. Lee has been one of my favourite cinemas in Hong Kong and I visited the cinema often in the late 80s till it closed its door. It has been the venue for the Miss Hong Kong event every year in the 70s and 80s. “Dead Poets Society” was the last film I saw there, and also my favourite film. One of the finest cinemas in Hong Kong history, no doubt.
The is a picture of the front of a model of the Lee theatre at a museum in in Hong Kong here: http://tinyurl.com/23u8ds3; there is an interior picture on this webpage (scroll down): View link and an exterior photo here: http://tinyurl.com/27f94jv
Thanks Raymond Lo for another fine history.
