Address above is incorrect. Now Antelope Valley RV Park at 776 West Main Street.
There were two completely different drive-ins in Delta. Both were called Desert Drive-In. The first Desert Drive-In begins appearing in various theatre catalogs in 1957.
According to the Historic Aerials website, the second Desert Drive-In which has its address listed in the heading did not exist until sometime after 1974.
The correct address for first Dessert Drive-In, which opened around 1957 was:
776 W Main St
Delta, UT 84624
The correct address for second Dessert Drive-In, which opened sometime after 1974 was:
1000 South 1500 East
Delta, UT 84624
The first Delta Drive-In Theatre was built by the Delta Amusement Company and was built in 1955. The 300-car theatre had a screen tower 60' high and 84' in width. It launched on June 8, 1955 with the film, “Pffft.” It appears to have closed at the end of the season on August 31, 1972. The theatre had a grand reopening (in a different spot according to the notes above) on May 23, 1975 operating part-year with the Sahara Theatre in downtown Delta. The theatre appears to have closed after the 1983 season.
