One of the very few theatres in BC that still have the Famous Players branding, which have been slowly changed to Cineplex.

According to the Cineplex website, this theatre has recently been renamed as the Cineplex Cinemas Orchard Plaza, so that’s another theatre that has just lost the Famous Players brand.

I just stopped by the Orchard Plaza theatre the other day and noticed they pulled down the Famous Players signage and put up Cineplex branding. It look like they updated the seating to reclining-style as well.

If the theatre switched to reclining seats, it’s most likely it now has less than half the number of seats it used to, given how bulky such seats are and how much room they require.

I see no point in keeping this theatre as Landmark owns a larger cinema nearby (the Grand 10). Not to mention, across the bridge in West Kelowna, Landmark also owns a more modern cinema there with an Xtreme screen. I don’t understand the appeal of this location. Could someone please explain this situation and clear this up?

I don’t know, I think that’d be up to Cineplex to decide.

This location updated to recliners and is doing pretty well, so it’s definitely here to stay.
