The Elza Drive-In was located ‘just outside the Elza Gate’, and was originally operated by the same people who ran the Skyway Drive-In in Oak Ridge. It was opened by 1950. It was still open in 1960, but had closed by 1962.

Yes,the Elza Drive-in,Bob was owned by W.J.Hatfield and held 270 cars.In 1956.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 103 Elza Dr. Behind the buildings at this location is a field where the theatre stood. The foundation for the snack bar/projection booth is still there.
Boxoffice, April 11, 1960: “The Elza and Skyway drive-ins, Oak Ridge, Tenn., have been taken over by Mrs. Juanita Foree and associates from O. G. Roaden of Loyal, Ky. Mrs. Foree is an officer in the Newport Amusement Co. and partner in the Lakemont Drive-In, Alcoa, Tenn.”
It appears this drive-in closed a long time ago, possibly in the 1960s Since it appears on a 1959 topo map, but is gone by 1972.
It also has changed little since its demolition as a 1981 aerial photo shows it in about the same condition as today, forty years later.
