Cinema Galleria

The Cine-Teatro Galleria in Legnano near Milan is definately worth a visit. It represents a type of cinema that used to be quite typical of Italy but is surely on the list of endangered species. The site varies live-theater performances and movies, the latter are normally re-runs of movies that date from the preceding "stagione" like the Italians say meaning literally "season".

Built in 1954, the cinema is huge having over thousand seats on two levels whereby the balcony is imposing with stadium seating (and not always open) and has in some parts still wooden seats, however covered with some plush-style cloth. As far as I know, movie sessions are rather held on working days.

It was renovated in 1991.
