Opened by Cinemette on July 21, 1973 with “Gary Grimes in "Class of ‘44” in Screen 1 and Walt Disney’s animated feature “The Aristocats” & Ruth Warwick in “Song of the South” in Screen 2. This theater was open every day during late-spring/summer/fall, and ran a 5 day/week schedule during the winter. There are two screens and each seat 200 people. They had great concessions, popcorn, candy and healthy trail mix/nut snacks and it was super clean! In the late-1980’s it was taken over by Hoyts Cinemas. They sold it to Northeast Theatres in 2003. In 2006 it was taken over by Your Neighborhood Theatres/Boston Culinary Group. Last operated by an independent operator, it was closed January 19, 2015 with Ian McKellen in “The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies” & Ben Stiller in “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”.
Closure was due to the lack of funds to install digital projection.

Seems that Maine Coast Mall Cinemas 2 closed on January 19, 2015. I was under the impression that they never converted to Digital and were having problems booking films. Last films were,The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
