The LaVerne Theatre was opened in mid-1927. It closed in the 1960’s.

Open ~1930-~1955? Can anyone verify the exact dates?
Sure could use an address.

Searching the business district (Broadway & Main), there are no structures that resemble a former cinema.
Laverne is hometown to the lovely 1967 Miss America, Jane Ann Jayroe.

I’ve found a single mention of the Laverne Theatre in Boxoffice. The issue of February 9, 1952, said that owner Paul Covey had installed a new Glascreen screen and Peerless Magnarc lamps in the house.
Boxoffice did not capitalize the v in the theater’s name.
The Laverne Leader-Tribune Jan 24, 1957 reports that “Don’t Knock The Rock” was playing at the Laverne Theatre, plus a wildlife adventure, “World In A Marsh”
The Oct 19, 1961, Leader-Tribune has an article stating that the Lavern Theatre closed May 1, 1961, was repaired and remodeled, reopening Oct 20, 1961 with “Two Rode Together,” starring James Stewart.
The Laverne Theatre’s upcoming shows (all single features, with three changes a week) were also listed in the September 11, 1958 issue of The Leader-Tribune. The house might have closed, reopened, and closed again multiple times during its last years. This was a common occurrence for small town theaters in those days. It might also have closed annually for the summer, if the drive-in was under the same ownership.
Uploaded scan of May 26, 1927, Harper County Journal describing the remodel carried out by Mr Berry, with a new entrance on Main Street (now named Jane Jayroe Blvd or OK 149).
Since I Can Only Find The Harper County Journal Off Of The Newspapers Website, It Only Goes Up To 1961. But Maybe The Laverne Theatre Had Too Much Trouble During The Last Few Years. The Theater Did Close Once In 1955, Because It Was Not Listed In 1956. So For The Best Thought, Maybe They Actually Did Reopened In Late 1956, Closed In 1958, Reopened In 1959 Or 1960, Closed In May 1961, Reopened In October 1961 After Remodeling, And Maybe If Necessary It Closed A Few Years Later.
For The May 1927 Article Though, I Can Only Find Showings From November Of That Year. So It May Actually Open In The Middle Of 1927.
