The Armon Cinema was opened in 1935. It was in the heart of Haifa’s entertainment district. Due to its large capacity, the Armon Cinema was often used for performances by the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and the Israeli Opera. On hot nights, the roof above the balcony was opened to allow air to circulate.
The Armon Cinema was closed in 1987, and was demolished to build a high rise office building.

I haven’t been in Haifa yet; when I was a teenager learning Hebrew in Brazil, my teacher was a lady from Haifa. She used a method with us (mishpachat Doron). This was in the 80’s: I remember there was a lesson in which Mishpachat Doron characters were going to “Kolnoa Armon”; then our teacher explained us this was a very traditional cine theater there.
