The Green Door Theatre in downtown Jacksonville, FL. became famous among adult theatres because of a write up in Box Office. Seems the owner John Graham and two employees were arrested and charged with handling obscene materials. Fines from Judge Raymond L. Simpson totaled $2,000.00. A major crackdown on all X-rated theatres. Why let them open in the first place? September 1974.

This theater was named after the Mitchell Brothers 1972 XXX hit “Behind the Green Door”, which in inself had a number of run-ins with regards to obscenity and the law. (The Mitchell Brothers did operate a number of XXX houses, but all were in California.)
