A movie theater serving employees of the Wurtsmith Air Force Base. This appears to have closed sometime before the base closed in 1993. Sometime after its closure, it was repurposed by the Shoreline Players, a local community theater.

I’ve seen it listed as Wurtsmith Air Force Base Cinema(S), I wonder if it ever was a twin?
Was a base from 1923, named for Major General Paul Wurtsmoth, had 4,626 acres, now a public airport, Oscoda-Wurtsmith Airport that has an Air Force Museum.

There are some pictures of the interior on the Shoreline Plyers site (see above). Unlike some of the theaters on military installations this one appears to been rather dull and functional. The booth photo there strongly suggests that the projection equipment has been removed.
Bob â€" It definitely wasn’t a twin. I’ve been in there; it certainly was a small, spartan theater.
Also, I can’t find most of my old phone books right now, but I’m pretty sure that 1987 is the last phone book to list it.
I wonder if this one ended up killing the Cine-Art/Variety/Showcase, which was just outside the base. The Showcase struck me as kind of an odd location, since it’s out of town and not really convenient to anything except the base â€" most likely the Showcase was intended to give people on base a place to watch movies, a function which was supplanted by the Wurtsmith cinema.
