The Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas opened in spring of 2011, located at the new Steelstacks Center in Bethlehem, PA. The two auditoriums (100 & 200 seats) have both digital and 35mm capability, 7.1 surround sound and have reserved seating. The theatre screens independent, foreign and documentary films, and is named for the founder of one of the largest beer distributors in the United States. Therefore, there is beer and other adult beverages, along with a limited food menu that can be enjoyed in the theatre. There is a Tuesday film discussion group, weekend late night horror films and a monthly ‘Soundtrack Comes Alive’ with a live band playing in front of a film.
The Steelstacks Center is part of a $1 Billion redevelopment of a former steel mill and sits at the base of the old blast furnaces, which are illuminated at night. There is also a comedy club, concert venue, outdoor venues and a Levitt Pavilion with free entertainment on a lawn for up to 2,500. Future plans call for reuse of old mill buildings for retail and residences. One building has been rehabbed as a community college.
The center is owned and operated by the non-profit Artsquest, which also runs Bethlehem’s summer Musikfest and other festivals. They have also partnered with the nearby Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem to raise funds by featuring casino-quality entertainers under a large tent, with proceeds benefitting Steelstacks.

Two nice theaters, most DCP but tey do have a projector they’ll bring out for certain revivals.
Will typically have two indie movies on rotation for the week, with special screenings a few times a week.
