Lumiere Cinema

Located in Melbourne city centre. The 300-seat Dendy Cinema opened as a single screen on 9th November 1974, with an art house policy. It was re-named Dendy Movie House on 4th December 1977. Renamed Mayfair Cinema on 31st March 1978 which only lasted one month as it was renamed Savoy Cinema on 28th April 1978.

In 1986 it was re-named Chinatown Cinema. In 1993 it was re-named Lumiere Cinema, still continuing to screen foreign & independent films. Around 2004 it was converted into a 3-screen cinema, but was closed in August 2005. It was taken over by Central Queensland University in April 2006 to be used as three lecture theatres.

Was converted into a triplex not long before closure. Despite being very plain it did provide a very diverse range of product.
