The Arcade Theatre was opened on May 29, 1908. It was renamed Messner Theatre on December 11, 1915. The Messner Theatre was part of the Carey and Alexander Circuit, and was operating until at least 1943. It had closed by 1950.
The Carey and Alexander Circuit also owned the Devon Theatre in the town, which continues to operated today.
