Was hoping it was the Third Drive-in in Newport ,Tennessee i have been trying to name.
well, if you live there or know someone there, you can always look in the city directories of yore…
A couple of friends and I saw the movie “The Spiral Road” here on August 18, 1962 after not being able to get into the play “The Glass Menagerie” at the Newport Playhouse.
This was actually located in Middletown, RI, the town adjacent to Newport, and not in Newport itself.
Approx. address for this drive-in was 1225 Aquidneck Avenue, Middletown, RI 02842.
The site is now Bay Willows Inn.
There was a Drive-in chapel on sunday mornings(9 am) in 1957, sponsored by tne Maple Avenue Baptist Church.
Opened on June 3, 1954 with “The Caddy” and “Arrowhead”.
