The Garden Theatre was opened April 1, 1938 with Robert Young in “Paradise for Three”. It was operated by Commonwealth Amusement. They continued to operate the Garden Theatre until it closed November 16, 1947. It was later used for live events until 1956. In 1959 it was converted into apartments and retail use.

The Garden Theatre was listed as open in 1939 and listed as closed in 1956.
Grand opening was April 1, 1938. Commonwealth closed the theatre for the third time on November 16, 1947 citing lack of patronage and letting a ten year lease lapse. As a weekend-only and closing in the summer months operation due to lack of air conditioning, the theater’s last cinematic offering was appropriately enough, “Ridin' Down the Trail.” It was used for live events by a variety of interests mostly for church services thereafter. In 1959, the theater was converted to apartments and retail usage.
The Garden Theatre opened with Robert Young in “Paradise For Three” along with the Porky Pig Looney Tune “Porky’s Phoney Express”, an unknown comedy, and a Benny Meroff scopitone.
