The 1,400-seat Wah Kiu Theatre opened to business in 1958. Wah Kiu is the Cantonese pronunciation of its Chinese name, literally meaning “overseas Chinese”, its exact English name if any is unavailable. The theatre was one of the largest cinemas in the Kwangtung province in the 1950’s.
