The Queens Cinema

Located on Orford Lane at Longford Street and Rhodes Street. The Queens Picture House was opened prior to 1914. Seating was provided in stalls and circle levels, and the proscenium was 33 feet wide. When it was equipped with Western Electric sound equipment in the early-1930’s, it was re-named Queens Talkie Picture Theatre, later reverting back to Queens Picture House.

The Queens Picture House was closed on 28th May 1960. It was demolished and a petrol station built on the site, which by 2011 was a car wash.
