Originally opened as the Palace Theatre prior to 1915. It was renamed Kentucky Theatre on December 15, 1925. In 1938 it was taken over by the Schine Circuit. It was closed in 1941. It was closed during World War II, and later reopened and continued to operate until at least 1950.

The October 27, 1927, issue of The Motion Picture News reported that the Palace Theatre at Corbin, Kentucky, had been renamed the Kentucky Theatre. The Palace Theatre was mentioned in the July 10, 1915, issue of The Moving Picture World, when it was being managed by an R. E. Gumm.
At 211 North Main, the Kentucky Theatre launched by Strand Enterprises Circuit and Gordon D. Rowland on December 15, 1925. Schine Circuit took it on in 1938 as Schine’s Kentucky Theatre. It closed in 1941. The circuit was forced to sell the Viv theatre promoting it to reopen August 8, 1942. It closed during the War.
