Located in the historic Wiltshire town of Malmesbury. The Athelstan Cinema was opened in 1935. It had a 30 feet wide proscenium.
In 1955, it was equipped with a wide screen. In 1983, part-time bingo was introduced on several evenings a week.
The Athelstan Cinema was closed in 1988, and was demolished in 1993. After demolition, an area of Medieval floor was uncovered.
A community centre to be known as the Ivo Fuchs Centre is to be built on the site.
