Opened in 1986, the Emerald Plantation Cinema 4 was the second theater opened on Carteret County’s oceanfront (the now-closed Atlantic Station 4 was the first). This theater was co-owned with the Atlantic Station 4 for years, and was not part of a major chain. Since the closing of the Carmike Cinema 3 in 2011 the Emerald Plantation 4 has been Carteret County’s only operating cinema.

Disregard the comment about the Emerald Plantation 4 being Carteret County’s only cinema; Atlantic Station 4 in Atlantic Beach is still there (thanks CSWalczak for pointing this out!).
