The Newton Theater was Baker County’s only theater. It was a walk-in small cinder block building with one screen. A curtain was hung straight down the aisle to separate the Caucasian movie goers from the African-American ones. Popcorn was offered at the front. Records suggest that it was operational from the 1930’s through late-1950’s.
