Located in Farncombe, near Godalming, Surrey at the corner of Meadrow and King’s Road. The King George’s Cinema was opened on 19th December 1921. It had a 12 feet deep stage, used by variety acts during the early years. It was taken over by the County Cinemas chain in late-August 1927.
Re-named County Cinema in October 1936. It was taken over by the Oscar Deutsch chain of Odeon Theatres Ltd. in September 1939. It was re-named Odeon on 7th May 1945.
The Odeon was closed by Circuit Management Association on 28th January 1956, and was never equipped for CinemaScope. It was converted into a sausage pie factory. Later becoming a deep freeze centre, then finally a Vickers supermarket. The building was demolished in 2000, and a block of flats known as Surrey Cloisters was built on the site.
