Depending the source, the Dyess Theater at the Dyess Air Force Base opened in either 1956 or 1959. Operated by the Army Air Force Exchange Service (AAES), the theater closed in 2009 and then reopened in 2011 after a $4.5 million dollar renovation.
However, the theater was permanently closed as a cinema by AAES in 2012 after determining that the continued cost of operating the theater and installing digital projection equipment would not be cost effective. It reopened August 8, 2014 and closed in February 2021.

True, but one would think after a $4.5 million renovation just completed, they would have known about the need to go digital and set aside a few bucks to accomplish that.
