The New Metropolitan Theatre was built opposite from where the earlier Metropolitan Theatre had stood, before it was destroyed by fire in 1935 (It has its own page on Cinema Treasures) The New Metropolitan Theatre was designed in a Streamline Moderne style. It was later renamed Franklin Theatre followed a few years late by Plymouth Theatre which operated for around 20 years before closing.
