Located in the Staffordshire potteries district of Normacot, close to Longton, Staffordshire. The Alhambra Picture House was opened on 12th May 1914. Inside the auditorium seating was provided in stalls and circle levels. The stage was 20 feet deep and it had two dressing rooms.
CinemaScope was installed in December 1954 and the ‘scope screen was 25 feet wide. The Alhambra Picture House was closed on 24th September 1977 with Clint Eastwood in “Magnum Force”. There was talk of conversion into a bingo club or as a civic centre, but these came to nothing and with the wholesale demolition of the surrounding area, the building became a derelict eyesore in the 1990’s. It was demolished in 1995 and housing was built on the site.

This webpage has some additional pictures of the Alhambra.
I have a complete run of all the programmes shown at the Alhambra from May, 1930, to when it closed in 1977, with the exception of June 22nd to August 6th, 1959, when no programme details were published due to the six weeks long national printers strike of that year.
Added to photos, two pages from the Alhambra programme booklet for September, 1962.
