The Cinecenta operates in the Student Union Building of the University of Victoria. This 300-seat single-screen house, which is open to the public as well as university students and faculty, shows recent Hollywood releases, classic films, cult movies and art/independent releases. Students and faculty generally pay lower admission prices than the general public, although those with theatre memberships can receive discounts on ticket prices.

According to this article, the current Cinecenta theatre opened at its present location in 1976.
