The Motor-Vu Drive-In opened on August 5, 1949 with Yvonne De Carlo in “Frontier Gal”. It was managed by Donald Welker. A 1955 story notes that the season opening in April was delayed because of the installation of a CinemaScope screen. Mr. Welker later assumed management of the Rich Theatre also.

The Motor-Vu Drive-In was listed in the 1988 International Motion Picture with a capacity of 300 cars.

From the Oct. 1, 1949 issue of BoxOffice:

MONTPELIER, IDA. – Old Oregon Trail and western scenes are painted on the six-foot aluminum fence surrounding the Motor-Vu Drive-In located on a five-acre trace on Route 30-N near here. Built at a cost of approximately $50,000, the drive-in accommodates 300 cars. A 62x55-foot screen and in-car speakers are used. Donald G. Welker is manager.
