The Ashland Opera House was built in 1890. The massive brick building had a full orchestra pit and stage on the upstairs floor.
The elite people of Ashland would gather there for plays, music, and later films.
The building is currently vacant, and for sale. Tony Mitchell, the current owner, has restored the front facade of the building, and installed a new roof and furnace.
The building has lots of potential. But unfortunately, it may be torn down if a new owner is not found eventually.

The 1905-1906 Cahn guide lists the Grand Opera House in Ashland, Wisconsin, as a second floor theater with 615 seats and a stage 40 feet wide and 30 feet deep. Given those dimensions, the current building as seen in street view and satellite view is not large enough to have accommodated this theater. My guess would be that the auditorium and stage were behind the surviving part of the building, which looks to be not much more than 40 feet square.
You’re right, the back part of the building that contained the stage has been demolished. The remaining front part of the building measures about 50 x 50 feet. In the upstairs of the building, the front part of the original stage still remains. But the back part of the stage isn’t there anymore. Only the main brick portion of the structure remains.
