Mayo General was a military hospital complex built in 1943, to the north of what was then the city limits. It was built to treat soldiers injured during World War II. The complex included a theatre which offered two shows five nights a week. The first show was reserved for patients only. The second show was for officers, staff, and their families. It was closed in 1946.
Many of the buildings of this complex are still standing, though not sure of the old theatre’s location.
