This was a conversion of a former skating rink, and the building was converted for cinema operator James Saronie, opening in February 1911 as the Electric Theatre. It was later re-named Park Cinema.
The Park Cinema was taken over by General Theatre Corporation(GTC) on 1st May 1928, and by the end of the month, they had been taken over by the Gaumont British Theatres chain. The Park Cinema was closed on 5th June 1937, and was demolished to build the new 1,654-seat Gaumont on the site (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures).
