According to the Corona Daily Independent Mr. and Mrs. Penprase opened the Danalda Theatre on March 26, 1919. On September 12, 1919 management was assumed by it new owners, Mr. Loper and Mr. Sturges. They remodeled the interior and exterior of the theater and renamed it the California Theatre. According to reports, the Penprases retained title to the building.
The California Theatre closed around August of 1929, before the opening of the new Corona Theatre in October. The theater has long been demolished and it would be hard to pinpoint the exact location as Main Street was realigned.
The Film Daily Yearbook of 1927 listed the theater with 605 seats.
