I was really hoping this would open up again with what just happened to the Plaza 8 theaters closing because screen land did not want to convert from film to digital there is now only one open theater in town the Hollywood with nooooo competition.
Steve from what I know it was part management like not cutting the grass. But it was mostly the owners fighting over it. I was told by one employee the current owner was a doctor from Montana who wanted to see a return on his investment before putting up- 160 grand to convert to digital. But I went to a few movies in 2013 and the place was packed so it was a gold mine I really believe.
Just noticed that UDITOA for sale tab now has 3 locations. If I hit Mega Millions or Power Ball would love to purchase a drive in. Would not be surprised if list grows due to no funds for conversion to digital.
rlycooke check with Bills and Bagby theaters they just bought the I-70-Drive In and Twin Drive-In Theater in Kansas city Mo . The deadline for changing from film to digital is Dec2014 time is running out if they hadn’t of bought them they were going to go dark
A lot of the comments flying around about the Cooke Brothers drive-in are inaccurate. I would like to set the record straight. It is not a management problem, it is a partnership problem. I had nothing to do with the operation of the drive-in in 2013 but I am doing everything in my power to get control of the theatre again so I can run it like I intended. And check my Facebook on Amusement Park Drive-in, my other drive-in in Montana, and you will see we are a quality operator. Just trying to figure out how to move forward. Anybody who has a great idea or wants to be involved in this drive-in, let me know. Thanks for your patience. Riley
I couldn’t find anything about the closing of this drive-in. But I did find something about the opening back in 2012. Riley Cooke runs the Amusement Park drive-in in Montana. It appears that based off some reviews/complaints on their Facebook page, that the good intentions of the Cooke family trying to expand their theater empire and not having good enough management at the Missouri location was a recipe for disaster. Too bad.
short life!
CLOSED and FOR SALE.
