The Lubec Theatre was located for most of the 20th Century within the fame of the Knights of Pythias Hall on Pleasant Street, adjacent to Monument Park. Photographs from 1911 show a banner reading ‘Motion Pictures’ on the side of the building.
The 1956 Yearbook of Motion Pictures quotes a 1947 MGM report indicating the Lubec Theatre (also known as the Stanley Lubec Theatre) seated 350 (later reduced to 300), and was managed by Robert Warren and owned by Marjorie Nutt, a daughter of the owner of the Eastport Sentinel. By 1970, major interior renovations were done, but the building later burned.

The Theatre Historical Society archive has the MGM Theatre Report for the Lubec; it’s Card # 401. But no one filled out the report, so there is no info. There is an undated exterior photo which was probably taken sometime in 1946- 1950.
