Located in Buckie, Banffshire. The Palace Cinema was opened prior to 1934. It had a 25 feet wide proscenium.
In the early-1940’s it was re-named Playhouse Cinema when it was taken over by Highland Cinema Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Caledonian Associated Cinemas, booked by A.B. King.
When it was equipped with CinemaScope in the mid-1950’s, the proscenium was widened to 28 feet.
The Playhouse Cinema was still open in 1966, and in 1979 plans were drawn to split the auditorium, with a bingo club in the stalls and a cinema in the circle, but these plans were not carried out, and the cinema was closed in 1979 and converted into a bingo club.
