The Harlem Theatre was open by October 1938 as a special events venue. It became a movie theatre in 1940 with seating listed at 270. It operated as a Negro theatre. In 1948 the city cited the Harlem Theatre for code violations. Aisles were blocked with storage, the booth was sub standard and no exit lights in the rear. The Harlem Theatre closed in the mid-1950’s and has since been demolished.

Opened as a special events/live-venue theater as early as October 1938, and became a movie house in early 1940.
