The Rex Theatre was open in the early-1940’s with seating listed at 300. This was listed as a Negro theatre. It was operated by Gulf States Theatres until its closing in the late-1960’s. Gulf States closed the Rex Theatre and Dixie Theatre at the same time. Since closing the Dixie Theatre has been demolished.
