Daniel M. Soref National Geographic Dome Theater & Planetarium

Opened in 1996 as the Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater it is located at the Milwaukee Public Museum. It has a six-story tall screen and wrap-around digital surround sound for 2D giant screen shows.

The 3D and planetarium upgrades are part of the $1.6 million dollar revitalization gifted to the Milwaukee Public Museum by the Daniel M. Soref Charitable Trust. The 3D digital system is powered by Dolby and two Barco 32B-series projectors which contain a 7,000 watt Xenon lamp and will project images across the dome at 61.5 x 40 feet. With a light output of 32,000 lumens, the 32B-series are the brightest cinema projectors on the planet. The Planetarium features a Digistar 3 computer projector system that fills the entire Dome Theater.
