An intriguing postcard on Flickr reveals that a nickelodeon, “The Gem Theatre Photoplays of Quality” existed at least from 1913-14 in this much older frame building on S. Main Street in New Berlin. Theatre owner Charles Simons seems to have taken the ‘high road’ in promoting his business. The building still stands, with an addition, and is in use as a business.

Oddly enough, there was also a Gem Theatre in Berlin, NH about the same time…
