This drive-in opened 21st December 1972. This was the place to be on a Saturday night because there was very little to do in our inland city of Goulburn, and it did show first run movies and hosted many dusk to dawn events as well.
The last film I had seen at the drive-in was “Down and Out in Beverley Hills” and the last double bill feature programme screened was “Summer Rental” and “Weird Science” (both available on video at the time).
Also I had the chance from 1981 to 1983 helping out in the projection booth, and that was a blast for any mad movie lover!
Best Box office films were “Star Wars”, “Crocodile Dundee”, “Mad Max” and a double bill of “The Exorcist” plus “Friday the 13th” really packed out the old Goulburn Drive-In. From 1982 until its closing on 4th July 1986 it was named Kenric Drive-In.
It became an industrial site, and vandals moved in gradually destroying the screen and buildings. It now has housing built on the site.

If anyone can supply photos of this long lost treasure it would be greatly appreciated.
And being the only drive in in the region , the weekly program changed to cater for all tastes. Thursday to Saturday , Adults Only Sunday & Mon to.Wednesday. During Kenric brief run Tuesday night was closed due to poor box office takings.
In loving memory for Ted Mungovan. He was the projectoinist for drive in many years R.I.P Ted.
Last movies to shown there was SUMMER RENTAL & WEIRD SCIENCE (and they both were on video at the time, so nobody went and that was that). Last movie was my sister and I went to see DOWN & OUT IN BEVERLY HILLS ((down & out was the condition of the venue and the screen was murky to see..we didn’t stay for the second feature coz it was repeated every weekend)
opened – 21/12/1972 closed – 4/07/1986
Opeaned as Goulburn Village Drive-in in 1972 until 1982, when the name changed to Kenric Drive-in, which it remained until closure in 1986.
Why didn’t they(at the end of the drive-in’s run) screen movies that had not yet been released on video?
There may still be the snack bar/projection room, entrance(and/or exit?) road, and some ramps still there? Some of the the trees are being retained on site.
Site has been redeveloped into housing, looks like everything has gone except for the exit road (and gates?) and some trees in the north west corner.
Also called Village Drive-in.
