Located in St. Ives, Cornwall. It appears that, prior to conversion to a cinema, this had been a dance hall. As a cinema, it was first run by Penzance Cinemas Ltd, then by Cecil Drage, but it appears to have had several uses, depending on demand and the season. It was equipped with Morrison sound, an 18ft wide proscenium, a 14ft deep stage and two dressing rooms. It closed in 1939 when the Royal Cinema opened.
It was used as a sculptor’s workshop by Dame Barbara Hepworth from 1961 to her death in 1975. For that reason, English Heritage granted Grade II Listed status to the building in May 2020.
