This started life as the Acton Twin Cinemas, launching on June 15, 1973 with “The Poseidon Adventure” in Screen 1 and the double feature of “The Graduate” and “Carnal Knowledge” in Screen 2. Two more screens were added on December 19, 1980, which became a quad, and was renamed Acton Cinemas 1-2-3-4.

Hoyts Cinemas closed the “last-known” Acton Cinemas 4 on February 28, 2002 because of a number of factors, including the multiplex rise, low weeknight attendance, and an end of a 15-year lease.
