Conroe’s Star Cinema Grill movie theater closes after 17 years By Sondra Hernandez, Staff Writer Longtime Conroe theater Star Cinema Grill has closed after more than 15 years at the Pine Hollow Shopping Center.

The announcement was made on the Star Cinema Grill website. Thursday was the final day of operation at the Conroe theater, according to its website, which had this message: “Thank you for making movie magic with us. We’re grateful for every visit, every laugh and every memory.”

It is not yet known what the plans are for the vacated space. The center’s owner, the Weitzman Group, did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Star Cinema Grill Springwoods at 1495 Lake Plaza Drive in Spring and Reel Luxury Cinemas Woodlands at 9595 Six Pines Drive, which are under the same brand, remain open.

Conroe’s Star Cinema Grill opened in May 2009, taking the space of Pine Hollow 6 Theater, which had earlier closed. At the time, Star Cinema Grill offered a new concept, combining full meals and alcohol with the latest movies.

Star Cinema Grill locations remain open in Baybrook, CityCentre in Houston, Cypress, Missouri City, Richmond and Vintage Park in Houston.
