Located in Cranbrook, Kent, just off the High Street. The Regal Cinema opened on 13th December 1938 with Anna Neagle in “Victoria The Great”. The cinema boasted a car park which held 40 cars. It was independently operated throughout its life.
The Regal Cinema was closed on 2nd February 1984 with the James Bond film “Never Say Never Again”. It was demolished, and today a car park operates from the site.

Partly on site of Co=op supermarket car park. Never turned to bingo.
My recollection of this cinema was back in 1977/78. I applied for a job as a projectionist and got an interview. As a film enthusiast I was thrilled to help project the new Star Wars film. I nearly got the job until I explained that I hadn’t passed my driving test and would be travelling to Cranbrook from Maidstone by moped. The manager was not impressed and there ended my dream!
