Opened as the Joy Theatre on August 15, 1947 with Maureen O'Hara in “Miracle on 34th Street”. By 1950 it was known as the Teche Theatre. It could accomodate 450 patrons and was operated by Joy Theatres out of New Orleans. The theatre closed in 1972.
It now operates as Louisiana’s most unique production facility. The renovated theatre now sports Acadiana area of Louisiana’s only sound stage/television studio. Also, full world-class music recording studio in the former upstairs balcony. Leveled floor suitable for in-studio film and video productions. Large stage with in-house lighting and set up for national touring concerts.
There is a small projection screen under the balcony for film premier/private viewings. Carpentry workshop with in-house art department. Grip, lighting, sound & HD video packages available.
Fully restored lobby with antique radio collection, local music & broadcasting history museum.
